Music
Music plays a significant role in our rituals and traditions. Our Sundays often begin with our Music Director, Shawn, playing our historic pipe organ. Throughout the service, our choir, children’s choir, singing ministers, soloists, instrumentalists, including many of our youth, play a range of hymns, classical pieces, and contemporary songs. The videos below provide an introduction to some of the music we love.
Shawn McCann, our Director of Music Ministry
Shawn became music director in 1995. A gifted musician, he also leads our choir. This is a prelude from a recent service.
Our Adult Choir
From one of our Sunday services, our choir sings Love, Be Our Way. We’re always looking for new voices.
In addition to our Adult Choir, we have Youth Choir and Open Choir (just show up at our Sunday Service and sing).
Our Singing Ministers
From one of our Sunday pandemic services, Elea and Li sing Crowded Table, a song originally written and performed by The Highwomen.
Sofia and Deb
Members Sofia and her Mom, Deb, accompanied on piano sing a rousing version of Bill Withers’ song, Lean On Me.
Jon
Each year our graduating teens have a Bridging Ceremony (with an actual wooden bridge) as they transition into adulthood. We all sing Bridge Over Troubled Water, and everyone cries.
